Goxoa Sportsbeer IPA
Aroma & Taste
Tropical · Citrus · Fruity
Goxoa Sportsbeer IPA opens with exotic fruit and citrus aromas — apricot, peach, and lemon layered with subtle floral notes that feel fresh and inviting.
On the palate, the beer delivers lively carbonation and a soft, creamy texture from the oat malt, balanced by moderate bitterness and a malty backbone that provides genuine substance.
The finish is dry and refreshing, with lingering notes of grain and honey that create surprising length — thirst-quenching with enough complexity to keep you interested.
Story & Design
Sport · Triathlete · France
Goxoa takes its name from the Basque word for "sweet" — fitting for a beer that chose comfort over aggression. Based in Montpellier and brewed in Belgium, it was founded by a former triathlete who spent 7+ years training at elite level.
The breakthrough came from frustration: disappointing NA beers, athletes who wanted real recovery drinks, and the realisation that someone needed to bridge functional sports nutrition with actual beer flavour.
The can design is bold and unapologetic — vivid colours and athletic illustrations that look more like energy drink than beer, reflecting the brand's refusal to choose between performance and pleasure.
Ingredients & Value
IPA · 0.4% · 23 kcal
This IPA uses a nine-ingredient formula featuring barley malt, oat flakes for creamy texture, yarrow extract for herbal complexity, and a complete vitamin payload — isotonic means it matches your body's fluid balance, so hydration actually sticks.
At 76 kcal per can with vitamins that rival a supplement, it's sports drink pricing for actual beer flavour. The €3.33 delivers something energy gels and electrolyte tabs never will.
Verdict & Opinion
Rebel
In France, le goûter is the 4pm institution — brioche, tartines with jam, baguette stuffed with chocolate. Sweet, buttery, the flavors that carry kids from school to dinner. Comfort food elevated to cultural ritual.
Goxoa tastes like someone turned le goûter into an IPA. Fruit brioche notes — apricot, honey, soft grain — belonging in a patisserie window, not a sports drink aisle. Creamy oat texture. Tropical fruit. A finish that lingers like butter on warm bread.
Most sports drinks taste like punishment. Goxoa chose comfort. Isotonic, vitamin-loaded, built for recovery — but it tastes like reward. Functional fuel that doesn't remind you it's functional.
Rebel status confirmed. Le quatre-heures in a can.
