Story & Design
Minimalist · Sustainable · Denmark
Two high school friends started To Øl as a gypsy brewery, entering Ratebeer's Top 100 list in 2012.
In 2019, they acquired a former ketchup factory to create a state-of-the-art brewery committed to sustainable brewing practices.
The clean, minimalist packaging with bold contrasting colors reflects their progressive attitude toward beer.
Ingredients & Value
Lager · 0.5% · 22 kcal
This lager uses a lean five-ingredient formula — barley malt for grainy foundation, maltodextrin for body, hops for subtle bitterness, and precise fermentation for a clean profile respecting the style's heritage.
At just 22 kcal and 1.7g sugar per 100ml, it's remarkably light, and at €2.91 per can provides excellent value in the craft non-alcoholic space.
Verdict & Opinion
Hero
Implosion: when everything collapses perfectly into place. Most breweries treat lagers as the safe option. To Øl doesn't do safe.
Copenhagen's craft scene is famous for pushing boundaries, but true skill shows when you pull back. No tropical hops to distract. No haze to hide behind. Just malt, hops, yeast, and precision.
The drinking experience is deceptively simple. That first sip feels familiar — grainy, clean, refreshing — but there's depth underneath. Herbal notes linger. The malt has structure. The finish is dry without being hollow.
Brewed in their converted ketchup factory, the Implosion Lager shares the same minimalist DNA as the IPA but walks a different path. At €2.91 per can, it's proof that less can absolutely be more.
Hero status confirmed. Sometimes the quietest implosion leaves the deepest crater.
